March 2020 vs. 2019

Northwest Indiana Home Sales and Values

Home sales in Northwest Indiana were extremely strong in March 2020 compared to the previous year. The amount of closed transactions was up 12.26% in 2020 with 897 closings compared to 799 in 2019. The price per square foot average was also up 5.4% in 2020. One of things I noticed that’s very important is the market time. The market time in 2020 is down 22.58% compared to 2019 with the average market time being 77.09 days compared to 99.58 a year ago.

Some of these closings I’m sure were moved in because of the fears of the virus going around. I’m curious what happens in the next month or 2 with closed transaction. See, these transactions would have started in January – February when the virus wasn’t even a thought or at least a concern to those here in the United States.

These figures are based on all Residential home sales no matter if it’s a single-family home, condo, townhouse or anything registered as residential.
